Swinging streamers and intruder style flies is considered by many to be the most exciting way to catch steelhead. It is easily the fastest growing segment of the Great Lakes Steelhead market. This day-long class will tech tying steelhead streamers on both tubes and shanks. The pros and cons of each pattern style will be discussed as well as how to rig and fish them properly. Several basic pattern designs will be taught and various ways to alter and enhnance these patterns will be shown. Jerry will also be using and demonstrating the Pro Tube fly tying components.

Jerry Darkes is one of the most recognized names in the Midwestern Fly Fishing arena. He is most well known for being the 1st ever Fly Fishing only guide in the Lake Erie region and has been a steelhead pioneer in the region. He is a guide, writer, fly designer and lecturer. His latest book, "Fly Fishing the Inland Oceans" is a ground-breaking work on fishing the Great Lakes themselves. He is also a manufacturers rep for companies like Scott, Abel, Scientific Anglers, Ross and more. Mad River Outfitters has been working closely with Jerry for nearly 20 years and we are thrilled to offer this fun and informative workshop to our clients.

Skill Level: Basic fly tying skills are necessary- including wrapping and tying off material, winding hackle, dubbing and whip finishing thread. You will need to bring your vise and basic tools.

* Date: Saturday, March 21st, 2015- 10:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.
* Cost: $65.00 per student and includes all materials, components and handout
* We will take a break for lunch and you can either bring-your-own or visit a local establishment
