Mad River Outfitters and Ohio Fly Fishing Guides offers professional fly fishing guide trips for Brown and Rainbow Trout here in the State of Ohio. It's where it all began back in 1990 when our founder Brian Flechsig began guiding folks on the Mad River!
The Ohio Division of Wildlife stocks “catchable” rainbow trout (10-14 inches) during spring and fall in various lakes and ponds, Clear Creek and the Lower Clear Fork of the Mohican. They also stock yearling brown trout in Clear Fork River and the Mad River. Catchable rainbow trout are stocked to provide immediate fishing opportunities during the Fall and into late Spring. Our brown trout fisheries "hold-over", providing year-round fishing opportunities.
Habitat in Ohio waters generally prevents rainbow trout from surviving through the summer in these waters. Brown trout are stocked to provide longer-term fishing opportunities since they are stocked at smaller sizes and expected to survive a number of years after stocking. Trout fishing in Ohio is maintained solely through annual stockings since rainbow and brown trout are not native to Ohio and our habitats do not promote natural reproduction.
Ohio Trout Trips
Ohio Fly Fishing Guides offers professional guide service for Brown Trout and Rainbow Trout here in Ohio. We offer guided trips for brown trout on both the Mad River and the Upper Clearfork of the Mohican River near Mansfield. We guide for Rainbows on the Lower Clearfork and Clear Creek in Hocking County. Our season runs year round and some of our best fishing occurs during the winter months.
Cost: $425.00 walk-in, $525.00 float trip, each for 1 or 2 anglers
$100.00 per additional angler on walk-ins
Season: Stream trout in Ohio can be caught year round.
