Ted's Swimming Hex is a wildly sexy and versatile fly. Of course, it does well when the Hex are prevalent and emerging. Swing it, twitch it....it get's their attention. Also a great salmon and steelhead fly especially up in Michigan. Even a decent choice for smallmouth on streams where these bugs are present.
But.....we love this as a carp fly. To be honest, it was the 1st thing we thought of when we first saw this fly many years ago now. Everybody loves hex nymphs...but especially when big carp get on flats it can be one of their favorite food items. This pattern is excellent for sight fishing to these beasts and for that matter any fish looking for a big mayfly meal.
