Cortland Hollow-X Spliceable Fly Line Backing- 70lb

Cortland Hollow-X Spliceable Fly LIne Backing, backing is specifically designed to splice in fly lines for a knotless backing connection.....but of course works just as well with standard connections. Ideal for big game species such as Tuna, Marlin, Tarpon, and Giant Trevally. The 12 carrier Hollow Core construction provides extreme abrasion resistance yet remains incredibly smooth to the touch.

Braided with a hollow core for fast and reliable splicing. Tight, round weave and uniform pick count (wraps per inch) for an exceptionally smooth surface that packs tightly on the spool with no flattening or digging in. FiberTech penetrates the weave and bonds with the individual Spectra fibers to stiffen and improve the handling characteristics of the line. Fine diameter minimizes line drag when trolling or fighting fish. 12-carrier construction results in incredible resistance to nicks and abrasions.

In comparison, standard Dacron backing in 20lb is .018" in diameter and 30lb is .024" in diameter. In other words, you can get almost twice as much of this stuff onto a reel as standard 30lb dacron.

* We can also of course install this stuff on a reel for you in place of standard dacron backing. We do of course have to charge for it, as it is much more expensive, but we are happy to offer this service and keep bulk spools here in the shop for rigging.
