This is the #1 fly to have for our New Orleans Redfish Trips! Great redfish fly but we've also had folks telling us how well they work on permit as well.
This fly came about back in 2012 or so as MRO's Brian Flechsig and crew were sitting around tying at the Woodland Plantation in South Louisiana on our annual store trip. Brian came up with this "version" and it became known as the Plantation Crab. It is for sure our top producing fly down there and we sell just as many to Louisiana Guides these days as we do customers!!!
The Plantation Crab is tied on a Gamakatsu 1/0 hook that holds up to the big bull reds and also big permit. It is available here with gold bead chain eyes, which good for spooky fish in shallower water. Also available with lead eyes as well here on the site.
