The Green Drake hatch, which happens in early Summer throughout the East, is one of the most anticipated hatches of the year. Anglers flock to streams as the fish gorge themselves on these giant mayflies and it can provide some of the best dry fly fishing of the season.
The Evergreen Eastern Green Drake here is a classic pattern that does the job. Standard hackled and high floating with split mallard wings. You can easily trim the hackle on this one to ride a bit lower to for slower water or to imitate a cripple or an emerger. A really great pattern that has served us very well.
