Seems like when we were kids, fly fishing mouse patterns were mostly viewed as bass flies. They still are, but these days they are becoming more and more recognized as BIG trout flies.

There is no question that large, predatory trout, especially big brown trout, love to eat mice. That is in addition to the rainbows in Alaska and Russia that also gorge on them as well. Mousing in Alaska and Russia for giant rainbows as well as giant brook trout in Labrador has gained in popularity over the years but the most significant growth has been night fishing for large trout in the lower 48. Been a hot topic and continues to grow. Of course, we continue to use these on the surface for largemouth around here as well.
