                                                          Jerry Darkes                                      Jeff Liskay

Jerry Darkes and Jeff Liskay are among the top names in steelhead fly fishing across the Great Lakes, having nearly 80 years combined steelhead experience between them. They have chased chrome across all the Great Lakes, to the Pacific Northwest, and into British Columbia, Canada. Both men are part of Scott Fly Rod's Pro-Staff here in the Great Lakes Region.

At Steelhead University these men will share their knowledge with you- whether dead-drifting on local tributaries or swinging a big stick on a western river, the information presented will be valuable to any steelhead angler.  Everything from bouncing bottom to skating dries will be covered.

Steelhead University will cover all aspects of fly fishing for steelhead.  Casting- both single-hand and two-hand, rigging for all styles of fishing, tying- streamers, nymphs, and egg patterns, reading water, and more.  The knowledge gained here can be applied to all steelhead waters.

Steelhead University is not a guided fishing trip.  It is not for the beginning angler.  It is not for those wanting to fish just Lake Erie tributaries.  Instead, Steelhead University is an intensive two-and a half-day program for those anglers wanting to take their steelheading skills to the next level.  The focus is to give students the knowledge, ability, and confidence to catch steelhead anywhere.

Steelhead University will be based on Ohio’s Grand River and be held March 20, 21 and 22, 2015.  Cost is $595.00 per person and includes all instruction, meals, and lodging.  Space is limited to 8 students and will fill quickly.  For additional information and to reserve a space, contact Mad River Outfitters- 614-451-0363 or [email protected].

Additional Information:

• Lodging will be bunk-style at a local cabin.  Students should bring a sleeping bag, towels, washcloth.
• Breakfast and dinner will be served at the cabin.  Lunch meat, bread, condiments, extras, drinks, will be provided for students to make their own lunch to carry with them that the day.
