The Nautilus X-Series is an open-frame reel designed for lightness, strength, drag smoothness, and fast line pick up. The X-Series design has strong beams that extend from the center to a wide line guard. These angles allow for rear spool rim protection where the reel typically contacts the ground when the rod is leaned up against a wall or a car.

The totally new SCF-X drag is a sealed Teflon® and carbon fiber disc drag system. It is adjusted with a generous drag knob that offers superior gripping surface and texture for wet and cold fingers.

The highly ventilated arch design, coupled with the dual palming rim increases spool strength by 35 %. The sides of the frame leave the spool totally exposed, and the back spool rim has a generous 1/8″ secondary palming rim for added fish control. This heavy- duty secondary palming rim has the strength to withstand everyday wear and tear.

The spool is a new spin on their ultra light, award winning Giga arbor design. It is lighter than any spool of a similar size they have ever made.

Available in three frame sizes but featured here is the X Medium – 3.5” diameter, 4.3 oz, which is for line weights 4-5.

* TPX- Nautilus precision engineered thermoplastic TPX bushings are feather light, self-lubricating, inert (no corrosion) and have zero wear. This means that you have the smoothness of a bearing without the weight and with a longer lifespan..
* ActivSeal- Perpetually repels contaminants from braking system.
* Hooker- Wrap your line or hang your fly on it (*optional accessory)
* Giga- The Uber arbors of fly fishing reels. Reel in more than a foot per turn of the handle. A unique design feature of these spools is grooves that let the bottom of the backing breathe to promote faster drying. The giga arbors have redefined large arbor reel design.

The Nautilus XM (Medium) fly reels and spools listed here. They will hold 130 yards of 20lb backing with a 4wt and 105 yards with a 5wt. These reels weigh 4.1 ounces and have a 3.5″ diameter.

If you need to return an item for any reason

  1. simply follow the instructions that are provided with each order
  2. Send us a quick e-mail, [email protected] AND simply drop a note in the return package with the following information: Your name, Order Number, Item(s) and a quick note on reason for returning. These instructions will also be printed on the return/address form. Please note that if it has been longer than 30 days, we will need to contact you to get a credit card number in order to apply the credit. Please make sure that we get a good phone number in that case.
  • Drop the item in the mail/UPS to us and that's it! We'll be looking for it!
  • We will be waiting for the item and will issue an immediate credit to your credit card account or...... you may leave the money on store account for future purchases. If we don't hear otherwise, the refund will go back on the exact card used for the transaction. * If an item was not purchased via the internet....ie phone or the purchase was made more than 30 days previous,  we will need to contact you to secure a means of credit.
  • Once we process your return, we will make note on your "Customer Service Notes" and then drop your return/credit receipt in the mail.
  • Non-defective, returned merchandise must be in re-sellable condition.
  • Please make non-defective returns within 30 days of purchase- please contact us if more time has passed
  • Please note that we simply cannot offer Free returns on merchandise that is non-defective or in error. We offer Free shipping outbound on all orders over $50.00 but, as a small business, simply cannot offer Free shipping on "general" returns.
