True North is a new organization located in Delaware, Ohio that offers support for Veterans, First Responders, EMS, Fire, Dispatchers, their families and their comminities

A big part of what they do is rescue horses and offer an equine assisted PTS Therapy program as well as Greenhouse farming, Agriculture and Aquaculture to assist in healing and growing.

They are also offering fly tying and fly fishing classes which is where we will come in. Our efforts through the F3T should fund their classes for many years to come. It is an honor for us (with your support) to help out those who have helped us.

They will be attending the event and addressing the crowd before the show.

F3t- Doing Good Things!

As you probably already know, each year we pick a charity and the proceeds from the Fly Fishing Film Tour go to benefit. Together, with the support of our great friends and customers, we have done some great for our community and looking forward to helping again in 2018.

We just recently received this note from last year’s recipient. Jess Westbrook and the Mayfly Project:

Dear Mad River Outfitters,

Thank you for your generous 2017 contribution of 5,163.00 to The Mayfly Project.

No goods or services were provided in exchange for this contribution – other than the joy of helping children in the foster care system learn the valuable and therapeutic art of fly fishing.

TheMayfly Project is an exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 47-5685618, so your contribution is tax deductible! In 2017, The Mayfly Project mentored 59 foster children in six different states. Because of your generous support these 59 children learned how to put together a rod and reel, cast, mend, and catch fish on a fly rod. In addition, we were able to take these children on a full-day fishing trip where each child received everything he or she would need to continue to fish: a rod, reel, line, tippet, leader, flies, fly boxes, etc. They also received packs, t-shirts, hats, water bottles, fly line bracelets, and rod covers. You made this possible!

Our goal for 2018 is to mentor 75 children and to expand to Montana, West Virginia, Washington and Oregon!!! We are also introducing a new conservation section in our mentoring program that we are really excited about! We cannot express how much we appreciate your support. Again, The Mayfly Project would not be possible without donors like you.

Thank you and please check out our new and updated website at: www.themayflyproject.com.

Tight Lines!

Jess Westbrook and The Mayfly Project Team

This year we have selected the Ohio Children’s Hunger Alliance as our benefactor. Here is what they had to say when they found out:
Brian,
That is so wonderful!  Thank you again so much for choosing CHA as a partner for your event. We’re very excited!
Your contribution will provide approximately 10,000 healthy meals and snacks to food insecure kids in Ohio, which is amazing!
I’m really looking forward to the event. I’ll touch base with you closer to the event just to check in, get more details about timing and such, etc.

Thank you so much,

Adrienne

Film Tour Raffle Items

As many of you know, the Fly Fishing Film Tour is coming up on Thursday. Just a reminder that the tickets have now SOLD OUT and we have a full theater.

We are now compiling the raffle prizes and thought we’d list them here, as well as on the webiste. There are a few more en-route to the shop and we’ll do our best to post once they arrive.

Just a reminder that the proceeds from the Raffle this year to to benefit the Mayfly Project. This is a great organization that mentors Foster Children through fly fishing. Jess Westbrook, the founder of the group will be on hand for the show and will give a short presentation at the beginning. He’ll also of course have some literature there about the group and info on how we can get involved.

In the meantime, you can learn more on their website HERE.

These raffles do good things! And we’d like to thank all of you in advance for participating.

Last year we raised over $3,500 for Reel Recovery. It was enough to start a retreat here in South Central Ohio!!!!!! We will be announcing the date of the retreat and some details at the show and also then on our website. Many folks had offered their help and now is the chance!!! We have been “making a difference” each year through our contributions and look forward to keeping it up.

Here is how the raffles will work-

Tickets will be $5.00 each or 5 for $20.00

The Grand Raffle items will each have their own “hopper” for you to place a ticket in. This allows you to put tickets on items you are interested in.

Majority of the  proceeds go to benefit our friends at The Mayfly Project-

The Mayfly Project is a 501(c)(3) organization that uses fly fishing as a catalyst to mentor children in foster care. Our mission is to build relationships with children in foster care through fly fishing and introduce them to their local water ecosystems, with a hope that connecting them to a rewarding hobby will provide an opportunity for them to have fun, feel supported, and develop a meaningful connection with the outdoors.  The Mayfly Project’s standard program is to mentor a foster child through five sessions we call “stages”, just like the life cycle of a Mayfly.  Within these stages, the children learn line management, casting techniques, knot tying, etymology, river safety, mending tactics, hook setting, catch and release tactics and the value of conservation. At the end of the five stages the child is given his or her very own fly rod, reel, pack, fly box, flies, tippet, indicators, etc.  Each project is unique and may contain more or less stages, but the goal is to provide a well-round and safe fly fishing experience for children in foster care.

New this year! A portion of the proceeds will also benefit previous benefactors such as Reel Recovery, Project Healing Waters and Casting for Recovery. Depending on the support we get, up to $200.00 will go to each of these organizations.
