Guide and friend Patrick Robinson brings us this new offering for steelhead. It has gained quite the reputation over the past season. We were custom tying a bunch and it just got out of hand so now the folks at Orvis are supplying them for us. This has turned out to be quite an attractor fly for trout as well as steelhead.
Here is what Patrick has to say about the fly:
"Here is a new early season fly that has just finished it's field testing and is working remarkably well. Inspired by it's larger brother the Chicken Little, this fly has been in conceptual form for some time. Recently, it was finally put into action and has become quite the little weapon. The fly is best fished in lower, clear water conditions when fish are pressured, stressed and not so willing to take. In such conditions, this fly has proven to be a real jewel."
The Chicken Hawk is tied on a size 14 curved nymph hook and is available in tan/pink, orange/orange, chart/cerise and purple/chartreuse
