Guide Service Policy
 

Mad River Outfitters is proud to offer a complete professional Ohio fly fishing guide service on local waters for trout, smallmouth, largemouth, steelhead, muskie, pike and carp. We offer licensed fly fishing guides for the Erie tributaries in Ohio and Pennsylvania. We now also feature Lake Erie near-shore and out island trips as well. 

Our original specialty, Mad River guide trips, offer a unique option with a float trip for brown trout in our AuSable and McKenzie river boats. We also guide for trout on the Clearfork River near Mansfield and Clear Creek in Hocking County.

Jet Boat and Float  trips for Smallmouth Bass, Musky and Pike are also available on several productive waters such as the Kokosing, Scioto and Darbys and many others. Smallie and Pike fishing in Ohio just might surprise you! Of course carp trips are available as well both walk-and-wade and boat trips.

Spending a day one-on-one with one of our guides can literally take years off of your learning curve! Our guide trips are geared towards learning advanced techniques while in hot pursuit of fish. Click a link above for some further details on Mad River Outfitters Fly Fishing Guide Service.

• Gear and flies are provided on our trips- waders cannot be supplied and if needed, you will need to bring your own.
• Although our guides carry plenty of flies, and they are provided- you may want to have a selection of your own and of course we can provide recommendations.
• Guide trips typically do not include lunch so you should plan on bringing your own.   Please make prior arrangements with your guide on this and consult the "Trip Information" for further details.
• Upon booking you will receive a Trip Confirmation, Basic Trip Information and copy of our Payment and Cancellation Guidelines (also posted below). You will also be asked to sign a Waiver which will state that you agree to the terms set forth. 
• Fees based on an eight hour day.
• Tipping of guides is appreciated.

More Important Info:

• For all guide trips, we require a 50% deposit at the time of booking and the balance is due thirty days prior to the trip.
• Any and all cancellations/reschedules must be made more than thirty days out from the trip date. If within 30 days we cannot cancel or reschedule a trip.
  If you need to cancel for any reason, we will make every effort to re-book your spot on that particular day. However, if we are unable to find another client to fill your spot, we will not be able to return your deposit/payment and full payment will be expected. We cannot make ANY exceptions to this cancellation policy
• By making a deposit/payment on a trip, you are legally stating that you agree with the terms set forth here.
• Cancellations outside of the 30 day period are subject to a $25.00 cancellation fee/service charge that will be deducted from your refund. 
• We hope that you understand the necessity for this policy to ensure that we can continue to run our trips and classes on a sound financial basis. We realize that emergencies do happen and please know that we will make every effort to re-book your spot, but if we can't, we must uphold this policy.
• We do pride ourselves on the honesty and professionalism of our guides and services...therefore...it does not behoove us to take you fishing when conditions are not right. In other words, we won't fish you if we don't think the fishing will be worthwhile.
• In the case of weather/poor fishing cancellations, which are exclusively at the guides discretion, we will try to re-book you for another day or another time. If we cannot do that to your approval, you will be entitled to a full refund of your deposit/payment.
• We cannot be held responsible for lost, stolen or broken equipment while on a guide trip with one of our guides. All equipment can usually be provided and if you bring your own gear, it is at your own risk.
