The Steech is a cool little version of an egg sucking leech. A big nymph? Small streamer? Drift it? Drag it?
Regardless...it catches fish. This fly comes to us from friend and guide Mike Schultz who guides steelhead both here in Ohio as well as his home in Michigan.
Here is what he had to say about this fly:
" The Steech is an evolved version of a quick...no-name guide fly I have been running during spring steelhead season on the Pere Marquette. As you know, the PM is a highly pressured river in the spring. This fly has done really well for me over the years. Just something a little different. I would usually run it in tandem with an egg pattern. The best part about this fly is trout or steelhead eat it on the swing out. Most likely taking it as a salmon fry."
The Steech is sure to become a go-to fly in the region for Steelhead...it has just about everything we need!!!
Sold here in a stout #8 and three fish catching colors!
